Min Olai : Tamil Editor with Spell Checker : (For Windows)

 

  • Install Instructions
    • Requires JRE : Please Install JRE (jre-1_5_0_02-windows-i586-p.exe) before proceeding further.
    • Choose to "Open" the file (jre-1_5_0_02-windows-i586-p.exe)
      •
    • Restart the system after installation of JRE completes.
    • Click on the Install Button below
    • Choose to "Open" the file Minolai_windows.zip
    • Extract the contents of file Minolai_windows.zip to a folder (eg : c:\Spellcheck )
    • Double click the "Min-olai.jar" file to start the editor/spellchecker
    • Summary of the Tamil Editor with Spell Checker is given below.

 

Note :

  • You may have to set 'PATH' either in 'autoexec.bat' or set the 'PATH' environment variable to the location of Java in your system

Summary :

Min olai version 1.0 ("o" in olai is pronounced as "o" in "open"), is a simple Tamil editor. Based on Java, the editor allows a user to type in Tamil and provides all the options for basic editing apart from the additional feature of Tamil spell checking.
The spell checker uses the Tamil morphological analyser as a building block and also has another sophisticated strategy for spell checking using frequent words and employs edit distance approach for generating and ranking alternate words for mis-spelt words.
